If you are a foreigner (one month invited professor position, etc)
our university can help you for:
administrative formalities, flat,
school for your children, French lessons...
Here are some links for the subway/bus/train schedules: transilien.com, transport-idf.com, ratp.fr.

|
From "Porte de la Chapelle" or the "Periphérique", join
the A1 highway (direction Lille): then take exit #3 and follow the map on the side.
After the fourth traffic light, turn to the right),
~300 meters after the small roundabout (the blue mark on the map),
take right direction "University".
You can also see the mappy.com website (set street = avenue JB Clement and city = Villetaneuse). The orange area on this Mappy map corresponds actually to the Univ. Paris 13, i.e. the campus map hereafter. |
In Paris, you go to Gare du Nord, and then take a train until the Epinay-Villetaneuse railroad station.
Here are the schedules (Try it with
"departure: Gare du Nord" and "arrival: Gare d'Epinay Villetaneuse", the trip last 12 minutes,
there is a train each 15 min.).
[More precisely, in the huge Gare du Nord, go to the "banlieue"(=suburbans) trains, also called "Transilien" and
take a train which goes to direction Ermont-Eaubonne, Luzarches, Persan-Beaumont ou Valmondois,
well the simplest is just to check that your train stops at "Epinay-Villetaneuse": this very same name
should be mentionned in the list of stops, on a large panel in front of the train.]
You can take any train which goes to the directions Ermont-Eaubonne, Luzarches, Persan-Beaumont or Valmondois, (platforms 30 to 35 at the suburban station) *checking* on the platform that the train actually stops in Epinay-Villetaneuse
(it should be the second stop).
The trip between Gare du Nord and the Epinay-Villetaneuse station lasts 10 minutes.
Then, 50 meters near the exit of the station, there is a place where people should
take (you can pay with a metro ticket) the RATP bus 156 (or 354 and 356) and go down at "Université Paris 13".
From the railway station, you could also walk directly to the university (10 minutes if you don't get lost).
NB: Epinay-Villetaneuse is in the "zone 3" with respect to trains, which means
you can not use a single metro ticket to reach us. Instead,
you need to buy one ticket for the Paris/Epinay-Villetaneuse train part
(one ticket = it works in both direction, i.e. you need 2 very same tickets to do a round trip! and also you'll have to buy 2 bus tickets) or, simpler, just buy a weekly "zone 1-3" pass (see hereafter).
|
In the Gare d'Epinay-Villetaneuse, take the pedestrian exit "Villetaneuse" and take
If you decided to join us from subway line 13 (ending in Saint-Denis), then take Bus 356, and exit to the stop "Université Paris 13" (the trip last 13 min). If you just missed this bus, instead of waiting 30 minutes for the next one, you can walk 300 meters to another bus stop ("General Leclerc", line 256) then exit on stop "Carnot". In both cases, then go on with the map campus (here after).
If you come from Bobigny: Tramway Ligne n°1 [direction Gare de St-Denis] until "Marché de Saint-Denis"
and then take bus 256 [direction Gare d'Enghien] and exit at the stop "Université Paris 13".
NB: If you don't have a weekly subway/bus pass, then you need to stamp a (new) subway ticket to take the bus. That's why if you are visiting us several days, we strongly suggest you to buy a weekly "zone 1-3" pass. You then can use this very same weekly ticket (which costs ~24€ euros for the whole week) for all your metro/RER/bus correspondences inside Paris and univ. Paris 13.

Our lab, the LIPN, is located in the "institut Galilée" part of the Université Paris-Nord
(city of Villetaneuse, 5km to the North of Paris).
The main entrance of our lab (and our seminar room B311) is located at the third floor of the B building.
(in yellow of the following Campus map).
Access is easy: from the bus stop, follow the (virtual!) green line (100m), enter in the Institute, still follow the virtual green line (50m), take the stairs (5m), and then take the bridge (the red line, 50m) turn to the right at the end of the bridge (and not before if you really want to visit us... ) and then you easily reach your Graal, the "virtual yellow" LIPN. If you get lost, you can phone to our secretaries: 01.49.40.35.90 ou 01.49.40.35.66 (just dial the last four digits from any phone in the university).
