Hotel IBIS - directions and transportation info
and also a (french) reliable
weather forecast site
and some
restaurants in the area
** SHORT EXPLANATION **
How to get to the hotel ?? See the
map on the hotel site
You can either take a taxi (see below
MORE ABOUT TAKING A TAXI)
or public transportation.
Rush hours are 8h-9h30 and 17:00-20:00 (or more)
(you can check with the sytadin site ).
The hotel is near metro stations "Brochant"
or "Porte de Clichy" (line 13, north-west branch, check !),
or buses (no 54, 74, PC3, 66, 31).
You can expect to find metros at least from 6am to midnight.
If you want to take public transportation,
my advice from Aeroport Charles de Gaulle is
to take RER B to Gare du Nord,
then either a bus (54) or metro (line 2 then 13).
(see below
MORE ABOUT TAKING PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION)

** MORE ABOUT TAKING A TAXI **
There are now a number of special taxi lanes in Paris
and also for the highway to Aeroport Charles de Gaulle (Roissy)
which should make it less queer to take a taxi at rush hours.
Note: you can also take a taxi from Gare du Nord if you are ready
for some (long ?) waiting queue ... (others had the same idea ??)

** MORE ABOUT BUSES TO THE HOTEL **
(see also MORE ABOUT TAKING PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION)
Buses are often less frequent than metros and don't run as late.
If you have time, pleasant to be above ground and see some of Paris,
may be also to save some (metro) connections.
no 54 (route between Gare du Nord and hotel)
no 74 (route between Hotel de Ville, back of Louvre and hotel)
no PC3 (route "around Paris" Porte Maillot <-> Porte Clichy (hotel) etc)
no 66 (route between Opera and hotel))
no 31 (route between Gare de l'Est, hotel and Etoile)
Specific schedule can be checked on the ratp site
User Guide > Buses > TimeTables > Find out more (french only :-( )
then insert the line number and choose "tous les horaires"
then "valider" and may be "cliquer ici":
you get a (french) pdf.

MORE ABOUT TAKING PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
(see also MORE ABOUT BUSES TO THE HOTEL)
The default from Aeroport Charles de Gaulle is RER B until
Gare du Nord then "something else":
- metro line 2 (from La Chapelle* to Place Clichy)
then line 13 (direction Asnieres-Gennevilliers Les Courtilles,
from Place Clichy to Brochant)
- or Bus 54 (direction GABRIEL PERI-METRO) may be less frequent
than the metro,
a map shows where are the bus stops
then you need to check that the bus is in the good direction
*La Chapelle is connected with Gare du Nord, not so long,
mostly with escalators
---- if you want more info:
Frequency on Line 13 north-west branch:
every 5mn until 20:30, after 10mn
----- and even more info: (working harder to get all infos ?)
You can study your itinerary using the
ratp site
click on the english flag (german, italian, spanish,
and even dutch available !!), then go to
To travel in Ile-de-France by respecting the environment
Departure (beige frame)
station: Aeroport Charles de Gaulle (1 or 2)
Arrival (green frame)
Address: 163bis Av Clichy, Paris
then click on Route planner
where you'll be able to specify the date and time of either Departure or Arrival
(which otherwise are assumed to be "now")
Note that your preferences by default are set to:
- All travel modes (you can choose e.g. Rail to avoid buses)
- Fastest route
Then the site tries to make sure you did not make
a mistake, and asks you
Certain elements need to be better specified !
so you just have to click at the blue stuff right to the address
163 BIS Avenue Clichy, Paris-17EME
(and keep that address of course)
then click on "Search"
then depending on your browser a page opens by itself
or you have to "cliquez-ici" (left in french ;-) ) to get it
there you see the proposed route and you can ask for
earlier/later routes (in this proposed route)
which I recommend because it gives you an idea of whether
this is a good itinerary in case our plane is late ...
Depending on the Departure/Arrival date that you specified
you may get a different itinerary (I did while trying it out
to write this message).
