Jorge Garcia Flores
Research Engineer
I am a CNRS research engineer at the Northern Paris Computer Science Lab (LIPN) of the Sorbonne Paris Nord University (USPN). I am responsible for developing methods and applications of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) for the Representation of Knowledge and Natural Language (RCLN) research team. My research work is focused on two axes: 1) expertise mining using deep reinforcement learning on web data, and 2) generation of literary microfictions based on Transformer (GPT) models.
As an engineer, I am in charge of LIPN's ChêneTAL platform, which provides computing infrastructures, such as GPU acceleration to perform experiences in NLP and AI. This platform is used by two USPN laboratories (LIPN and L2Ti) as well as the laboratory of excellence Labex EFL EFL to do initial experiments on deep learning methods and to improve the model parameters before undertaking more ambitious experiments on national computing infrastructures, such as Jean Zay. I am also in charge of developing the NLP framework ChêneTAL, which will allow for the sharing and reuse of NLP systems, resources, and demos developed by the RCLN research team.
Moreover, I am in responsible for the LIPN website, and I co-lead the software development team (#DevTeamLIPN) of my laboratory. Advising engineers and PhD students on the development and implementation of PLN systems and scientific or management applications is a fundamental part of my work.
